Meal Planning made easy with a County Foods Working Week Meat Box

Eating healthily takes commitment and time otherwise it’s all too easy to fall at the first hurdle and go back to your unhealthy ways.

Here’s some tips to help you get organised and create a new lasting regime that builds your confidence with new recipes and experimenting with unusual ingredients you may have never cooked before.

Before you start:

1. Get the kitchen ready:

Have your shopping list ready, get organised with all the ingredients you need and DON’T be

tempted to do mid-week evening shops for the ingredients unless you have strong

willpower!  Ordering the County Foods working week meat box will help you plan your recipes and keep you on budget.

2. De-junk the house

Remove all tempting snacks and junk food from the house

3. Enrol your family & friends

Let your family and friends know that you’re re-educating your taste buds and learning a

new healthy way of eating so when they notice the wonderful results you’ll achieve,

then they can join you too!

4. Have a buddy

It’s always easier and more fun if you share your experience with a buddy, so you can

keep each other accountable when things get tough and share the joy on results day!

5. Have all the equipment ready and in working order

Water bottle, kitchen utensils, blender, flask and storage containers for food-on-the-go

days PLUS have containers ready to FREEZE extra’s for your following weeks! This is

super important for the TIME saving element of the weeks ahead. Get FREEZER labels

and containers ready and organise space in your freezer!

Top Tips:

1.     Define Your Goals – is it Weight Loss? More Energy? Building Muscle? Determining your goals will reflect the recipe planning you choose as well as portion control. Research recipes to best suit your cooking ability, time schedule and goals.

2.     Shop for the Recipes with a detailed shopping list – This will help you stay on budget and also visit destination aisles that may contain unusual ingredients like certain spices, pulses, grains, seeds, oils, non-dairy milks, teas and supplements.

3.     The weekend is a super time to clear the cupboards, get organised, shop, prepare for the week ahead with bulk cooking and freezing.

4.     Don’t Get Bored – aim to have at least a 2 week rotating set of recipes that become your favourites. Then every season, meal plan again taking into consideration seasonal foods, BBQ season, winter warming soups, summer salads.

5.     AVOID – shopping when you’re hungry so you don’t over buy or get tempted by end of aisle marketing offers for sugary cheap foods!

Plan your meals with family and friends by looking at a variety of cookbooks. I believe cookbooks should not only provide us with ideas and information, they should inspire us and lift our spirits, free our minds and brighten our outlook on life. They can influence our meal choices and hopefully improve our own and family’s long-term health.

Here’s what comes in the box and here’s some recipe ideas:

In the Meat For a Working Week Box:

1.5 kg beef topside joint

500g minced steak

12 beef meatballs

4 x 200g chicken breasts – I asked for a whole chicken instead

6 premium pork sausages

500g honey roast ham

£30

I collect my meat box on a Friday or Saturday, then I’m set for a roast on the weekend of either Roast beef or the Roast chicken.

The mince steak makes a great chilli con carne for a quick mid-week treat served with rice and steamed broccoli.

The meat balls are pan fried and tops off my homemade pasta sauce with olives, capers, Italian spices and passata and fresh chopped tomatoes. Grate a little parmesan cheese for extra flavour too.

The honey roasted ham I served with fresh salad over a few days, this is quick and healthy lunch made in minutes!

The pork sausages we covered in unsmoked bacon (also from County Foods) and made little pigs in blankets and served with mashed sweet potato, shredded cabbage stir-fry and homemade gravy.

Feeding a family of 4 with this high-quality meat selection makes my life easy and we can rotate different recipes with the meat box. Get some recipe inspiration from my cookbooks:
